My husband and I have been involved in holistic health and using natural products for personal, family, and household care for over 20 years. But, the idea of making my own natural tallow-based skincare products by hand, and then turning it into a business, honestly wasn't on my radar.
The problem was, for years, I cycled through product after product for my skin that promised "natural" and "clean" on the label. What I got instead was dried skin, clogged pores, and more breakouts. I started to wonder if truly natural and clean skincare that produces real results even existed.
Over the years, a word that kept coming up in my research was "tallow." I believe in the value of ancestral wisdom, so I tried it. But all the tallow products I found were greasy, heavily perfumed, and full of filler oils that didn't feel good on my skin and only caused more problems. When I dug deeper, I realized most "tallow" skincare isn't pure at all. So my search continued.
Then a close friend came to me looking for something gentle for her baby's irritated skin and really wanted to try tallow. That's when I decided to try it again, knowing that if we wanted something truly natural and clean enough for her baby, and that would give us the results we wanted for our skin, we were going to have to make it ourselves.
We sourced pure, 100% grass-fed and grass-finished suet from a small local family farm and started rendering and refining it by hand in my own kitchen, adding nothing extra but certified pure essential oils. The early batches worked, but they weren't perfect. Some were too firm, some too grainy. We kept adjusting, kept testing, kept sharing samples with friends and neighbors and listening to their feedback. Eventually, the process clicked, and the result was something silky, cloud-soft, and unlike anything I had ever tried.
When we started bringing small batches to local farmers markets here in New Smyrna Beach, the reaction from real people trying it on their hands and face for the first time, many who had also tried tallow moisturizers before, told me everything I needed to know.

Every jar of Tallow & Things begins with a single, fully traceable source: a local, USDA-certified farm where the cattle are raised on open pasture from birth to finish. They are grass-fed and grass-finished, never grain-fed.
We verify that there are no antibiotics or added hormones, and no feedlot practices. We have never once compromised on what goes into our source. Because sourcing determines everything.
THE SCIENCE OF RENDERING
Our proprietary rendering process is what transforms raw suet into the cloud-soft, velvety moisturizer our customers love. We triple-render our suet using alkaline water and unrefined mineral-rich ancient sea salt, a process that systematically removes the impurities, proteins, and odor compounds that cause irritation and make most tallow products unpleasant.
